Now then, Bill, you can't post a lovely pic like that and not tell us where it is!

You`ll hardly believe it, Linda, but its Beer in Devon. Next to Sidmouth, almost where the Napoli went aground.

We have pix of the bay with Napoli in the last stage of being emptied, taken in May, the only good week of sunshine. We were stopping at Exmouth on a coach holiday to North-East Devon. Took loads of pix all round the area we travelled by local Barnsley coach firm.

William, you have just supplied the answer to an unanswered question that was asked this weeh on `Eggheads` (or was it weakest link?).
What was the name of the ship that ran aground and was relieved of most of it`s cargo, by local residents? Both of us couldn`t remember it either.

Jim

Jim, I don`t know whether you know, the Napoli was split into two pieces using explosives.

The hold and all the gear for transporting the containers I believe has gone to Harland and Wolff at Belfast for dismantling and recovery.

The rear section was towed out to deep water and sunk. We didn`t get to Branscombe beach, but there was no evidence of polution to be seen in the area.

That`s the story as I understand it.

Another bit of useless info for you!!.

Far from it William. No information is `useless` as far as I`m concerned.

Thanks for answering my question, Bill. You were lucky to be there in the only spell of good weather in the summer.
