I thought you had to have a certain amount of land to keep chickens.

1 or 2 sq ft. per chicken, so you don't need a lot of space really.

I think you've got the wrong units there Ant, a battery hen gets that much space. When I kept them back in the middle ages we had around 160 and they must have had around 100 square yards to wander about in. I remember having to scour the land daily as some would insist on layong outside and not in the nesting boxes.
