The prices look reasonable to me.

It depends on your experience, Martin. Compared to some of the up-market places in this area, that place is a bargain, if the quality is anything like what posters here have indicated.

We always loved the Dog and Partidge, just north of Longridge (Chipping?) but last time we went, we thought it had become very expensive. Is it still in business?

I read through all the reviews and a lot are not very flattering. There have been a lot of complaints about food and service at Charnock Farm.

I looked at the reviews on Trip Advisor and most are good with a few bad ones in there. It's got 4 out of 5 stars.

Twelve were poor or terrible. Too many for my liking, especially since it is so expensive.

I have to disagree with you Mo.

First of all, you will always get whingers on Tripadvisor. And often people who have a motive for complaining (competitors).

41 Excellent and Very Good ratings is pretty good on a website were people are more motivated to post bad reviews than good.

The prices are reasonable for a restaurant. I don't know what you expect to pay for good food but they are no more expensive than a lot of chain restaurants that I've been to.

I'll certainly consider checking them out when I'm back in the area.

I should point out that I am talking about the brand new, opened on New Year's Eve for the very first time, banqueting hall. It must have cost a fortune to deck out. My only criticism, the beef was a bit tough and the place was chilly when we first arrived. I doubt any of the Trip Advisor comments are relative to the new hall. Ten of us went and all enjoyed it, wonderful service. I'll post a photo of the desserts if I get chance, the sticky toffee pudding was to die for, gorgeous.
