One of the beaver cubs aged about 6 asked my wife what "that badge was for".
"It commemorates 100 years of scouting" she replied.
"Gosh" he said, "have you been in scouts for 100 years?"

Noel , the good people like your wife are doing a fine job with the Scouts, I still recall vividly the experiences gained years ago when I was in the Scouts, what great days they were, and all due to the dedication of the leaders . I have recently been in contact with my old Scout and Cub leaders who are now living in the Whalley area ( adjacent in fact to Mitten Hall), and I expressed my gratitude for their efforts.
It must be even more difficult today with all of the questionable acts we all too frequently hear about !

I was a Girl Guide and brownie leader for many years in Leyland and in Switzerland. Now I am a leader with Boy scouts and Venture Scouts here in America. We are hoping to make it over next year for the world camp in London and to visit some units in and around Leyland.
