On a recent train journey to North Wales i saw an abandoned ship on the journey.Do any members have any information about this ship
You don't see many ships on a railway line , unless like me you have had a few too many,,,,,,,,,,but I see Pink Elephants.
Where about was it in Wales exactly and how do you know it was abandoned ? Was the table set for the crew with meals laid out still steaming ! Did it creak ! There probably would have been a young boy hiding in a cupboard or something if you had taken a closer look !
It was probably The Manxman, when it left Preston Docks it was beached on the North Wakes Coast until the owners decided where to move it to. I went and flew round it once to take a look at it.
I saw it from the air but it was close enough to the railway to see it.
The Manxman was towed to dry dock in Sunderland. I think it's been dismantled now.
Does anyone know the actual condition of the old "lady" (is it ok to call a manxman a lady).
As I wrote I thought it had been dismantled.

Those were the days. So it brings us back to what was that abandoned ship and what was David doing flying round it. Are you a pilot David?
